MERIVALE SCHOOL UPDATE ALERT LEVEL 2 - Wednesday 8 September 2021

Kia Ora Parents, Caregivers and Whanau,

It is great to be back at Alert Level 2.  Today staff are diligently working at school preparing for the return of our students.  There are a few things to be aware of regarding coming back to Merivale School in Level 2.

School Operating Hours.  School is open from 8am as per usual.  Please do not send children before this time.  Our finishing time again is 2.50pm.  In Level 2, everyone must be off school grounds by 3.30pm.

Drop Off / Collection.  Please keep to the normal rules of the drop off zone.  Staff will supervise before and after school protocols including all students to sanitise their hands when entering. We ask adults who are waiting for students in the afternoon, to please remain in your cars or if on foot, outside of the office area at least 2 metres apart from each other.  At Level 2, students are able to come to and from school unaccompanied by an adult.

School Access.  All visitors must check into the office if they are not dropping off or collecting students.  No person is allowed inside school grounds without permission.

Face Masks.  The Ministry of Education guidelines are that masks are not mandatory in schools. We are aware that some whanau would prefer their child to wear a mask. Whaea Heather has asked whanau to contact her to discuss this in detail.  We wish to advise our community that all visitors are to wear face masks on entry to the office.

Turf Construction.  Over Level 3, the Board Of Trustees were given an opportunity for our planned turfing of the courts to be done now instead of in the next holidays.  This work is still underway and will hopefully be completed by Friday.  We have all safety measures in place for this mahi. We thought by bringing the job forward it might help our students transition back to school if they had something exciting to look forward to.

School Entry/ Playground Restrictions. Because of the turfing, our main entry to the school will be closed for safety reasons. Junior school entry will  be on the side of my office.  Middle and senior school entry will be at the middle gate at the start of the drop zone.  The junior school will be restricted to the junior playground during breaks with the middle and senior school having access to the senior playground, field and action centre.

Looking forward to seeing students back at kura tomorrow.  Remember, if you have any concerns please contact the office.

Mauriora!
